Hey there -

Basically, I'm having problems with my iPod. When I connect it to the
computer, it will not appear on the desktop or iTunes, and will only
recharge the battery. I have tried different firewire cables, and
connecting to another computer, so it has to be a problem with the
iPod. Other than that, it functions fine - as in, it will play the
music that is already stored on it, despite failing to update. I have
tried resetting it by pressing the Menu and Play/Pause buttons; as
well as the procedure where you put Hold on then off, press Menu and
Play/Pause, then Rewind and Fast Forward - it will simply go to a "OK
to disconnect" screen. Does anyone know what I can do to fix it?

thanks in advance - Owen

Try reinstalling the iPod firmware. The one called iPod updater
such-and-such date. It might me in your /Applications folder, otherwise
you should find it at apple.com.
