I AM HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THE SPEED OF SORTING A SPREADSHEET AS QUICKLY AS I
USED TO. MY SPREADSHEET IS ABOUT 12,460 LINES LONG WITH THREE COLUMNS.IT IS A
SONGLIST. IT SEEMED TO WORK FINE UNTIL ABOUT A MONTH AGO. I COPIED AND PASTED
SOME ADDITIONAL LINES FROM A FRIENDS LIST AND ADDED THEM TO MINE AND SHORTLY
AFTER THAT I NOTICED THAT WHEN I WOULD TRY TO MOVE UP OR DOWN THE LIST WITH
THE DIRECTION ARROW ON THE RIGHT THAT IT WOULD HESITATE AND STOP AND THE GO
AGAIN.
NOW IT IS VERY SLOW WHEN I SORT BY USING THE DATA BUTTON AND THEN SORT BY
ARTIST, SONG OR DISK. WHAT IS WIERD IT TAKES WAY TO LONG TO SORT MY LIST THAT
IS 12460 LINES LONG. AND WHEN I OPEN UP MY FRIENDS LIST , WHICH IS 31,000
LINES LONG IT SORTS IMMEDIATELY.
I TRANSFERED THIS LIST TO MY LAPTOP AND IT TAKES FOREVER TO SORT ON IT. THE
12,460 LIST TAKES AT LEAST 4 TO 5 MINUTES TO SORT ON THE LAPTOP. LES RAM ,
OLDER PROCESSOR THAN MY DESKTOP. THE DESKTOP TAKES MAYBE A MINUTE WHICH IS
WAY LONGER THAN BEFORE.
WHEN I ADDED THE ADDITIONAL LIST OF MAYBE 200 SONGS TO MY MAINLIST IT REALLY
MESSED IT UP ON SORT SPEED.
SO IS THERE SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE SMALL 200 LINE LIST THAT I DUMPED INTO
MY BIG LIST. I CAN'T REALLY IDENTIFY THOSE LIN ITEMS(SONGS) NOW .SO HOW CAN I
CLEAN UP THE SPREAD SHEET TO MAKE IT SORT AS QUICK AS THE 31,000
SPREADSHEET???????

Please don't use all caps. That's the equivalent of shouting to the top
of your lungs. Most people will pas by anything written in all caps.

try retype in a normal manner and some should be able to come along and
help. OH, by the way, I don't see any reference to using Excel2004 or
2008 and what System used and what Processor speed/Machine your using.
All would be helpful.
