I purchased Office Mac 2008 and can't seem to figure out how to get the Excel from my old XP system to convert over to the new Mac system. In other words, if I transfer a spreadsheet created in XP to the Mac, even with the new software, I can't open it. Please help

XL08 should certainly open files created with XL02 (Office XP).

How are you trying to open the files? Double-clicking them in Finder?
File/Open in XL?

In a Finder window, do the files show up as XL files? If not, select one
file, choose File/Get Info, and select XL08 in the Open with: section of
the Get Info dialog. Click Change All.

Post back with more info if this doesn't help.
