Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: intel

I have set row 1 to print at the top of every page:
File->PageSetup=>Sheet->PrintTitles

I have formatted Row 1, Column C.G with Borders

Everything is fine when I look at it via: File->Print->Preview

Everything is fine when I print it.

When I use View->PageLayout, however, the lefthand vertical border of Cell C1 only appears on the first page of the document.

This is not a big deal. It's just a little oddity that I wanted to give feedback on.

I don't claim to *know* the answer, but I have my "theory", FWIW :-)

Not only Excel, but many programs have difficulty displaying a certain level
of detail accurately when it's close together. Whether it's actually the
fault of the program, the OS or the video/display of the system I'm not sure
- maybe a combination. There are a few experiments you can try in your spare
time:

1- Zoom to a higher level of magnification,

2- Lower your resolution, or

3- Increase the weight of the border.

If either make the border visible it pretty much supports my theory.

Additionally, the width of the column - more specifically how close content
of the opposing cells comes to the cell wall - can have an effect as well.
It seems that if the content & the border can't be displayed without a
certain amount of "space" in between, a choice is made as to which will show
up... Excel appears to decide in favor of the content rather than the border
or overprinting the two.

1> Zooming does not help
2> not sure how to do this
3> Increasing the weight of the border.... hmm I made the border THICKER and changed the color. Now, on the first page, I have a thick red border, and on subsequent pages, I have a thin red border! Odd.

Thanks for the feedback - I had similar oddities when I worked with Excel for Windows and thought it was video-related.

Since the print-out is fine, I'm not concerned. Mostly just curious

Thanks
Marion
