I would like to see the information entered in the cell at the same time as I type it, not just in the information bar.

Do you mean in the cell, itself? That's the typical behavior.

If you're having some sort of problem with that you'll have to provide a
good deal more descriptive information about the circumstances as well as
specific OS X & Excel version numbering.

Bob,
I have the same problem. I think it is a "feature" connected with the last
of several OS and/or Office updates. When typing in a cell, the cell
contents does not change until enter is pressed. You can see all the editing
in the formula bar, but NOT in the cell itself until ENTER.

Well, I'm not seeing that at all. Any time I type into a cell the content is
immediately visible in the cell as well as in the Formula Bar - regardless
of whether the cell previously had content or not. It also makes no
difference what type of content the cell may have had or what type of
content I'm entering. It also doesn't matter whether it's a .xls or a .xlsx
I'm working with.

This is with 12.1.1 on 10.5.4, Intel MBP. I don't recall having seen it on
my G5 running 12.1.1 in Tiger, either.
