There is no setting I know of in Excel that specifically adjusts the
intensity of the gridlines. AFAIK, there also is nothing in System Prefs
that will change the weight or darkness of the grid.
You might try the various printer settings available from the Copies & Pages
list in the Print dialog which pertain to Color Sync as well as Color
Management. Perhaps you can come up with an acceptable combination & save it
as a Preset. Unfortunately the settings adjustments may adversely affect the
other content being printed.
If that doesn't work & it's a major consideration you might want to create a
workbook & worksheet template using the Border color of your choice for any
new files you create so you won't have to go through the dance each time.
