Actually, your assumption about the "print button" being a "part of Excel
2008" is inaccurate:-) That button & the dialog window in which it appears
is provided by OS X. Excel (or any other program) merely calls the service &
supplies a certain amount of the information inserted into specific areas.

Take into consideration that generating a PDF does produce a single file
comprising multiple pages if all the data is on the same sheet. It's only if
trying to print content from multiple sheets that separate PDFs are created.
That's because the PDF software isn't written to recognize the document
structure appropriately - it incorrectly interprets the end of sheet
"marker" as an end of document marker (short version). There's *nothing*
that can be done from within the originating file/application that can
change the way the PDF generator works. The content is simply handed off to
the PDF creator, which then does what it's written to do with the data.

Consider further that a PDF creator is merely a sophisticated printer driver
which "prints" to a file rather than to some physical media. Your physical
printer doesn't have any problem printing content from a multi-sheet
workbook, does it? That's because *its* driver has been coded to interpret
the breaks effectively.

Blame whomever you want, but it won't change the facts:-)
