Unable to retrieve file from USB memory stick

Hello
I saved my file yesterday on my memory stick but not on my desktop. Tried to
open today and get a message :_ i) Use data theat can be selected in one
contiguous rectangle 2) use data from same sheet. I click ok and then get
error message and then restart . Try to get the recovered file and save it
but can't. so annoying I can see the information I need to get into but acn't
access it without the file closing HELP

Hi Annie -

Sorry you're having a problem, but this is exactly why it's highly
recommended that you *not* save files to or open files from a USB stick.
Contrary to how they're advertised they are *not* drives & the practice can
cause file damage & corruption. That's what it sounds like here.

You may still be able to recover the file, but copy it to your HD first.
Then - from Excel - use File> Open & see if you can open the file that way
without incident. If you still have a problem...

The header of your message suggests that you got here from the MS web portal
which is notoriously hard to navigate & you wound up in a Mac Excel group. I
think you're using some version of PC Excel on a system running some version
of Windows. If that's the case you can access the appropriate PC Excel group
from this link for more assistance:

Just make sure to include all pertinent information if you do.

Thank you so much it worked. I don't usually not save to my desktop but was
working until late . Urgent job for work needed to be finished today Thanks
