Version: 2004
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Power PC

for about the last week I suddenly find that every time I start Excel the Recently Used File List is empty, every time.

I'm using Excel as I always have; have been using it for years. No new op system or Excel install lately at all.

I find no reference to this at all in help of the forum answers.

Can anyone help? Are there some "hidden" files that can become corrupted that I can zap?

Thanks.

First make sure that the Recently used file list checkbox is checked in
Preferences/General.

The RUF List is stored in the

  ~:Library:Preferences:Microsoft:com.microsoft.Excel.prefs.plist

file. You could try zapping that - note that you'll lose your other
preferences as well.

Thanks for your response.

Yes the ckbox is checked.

I hate to redo my sheet preferences but will have to consider it I guess.

Is your copy of Excel completely up to date? There used to be a bug where if
Excel was opened and then Quit with nothing happening, the MRU list was
deleted.

Bob,

Thanks for reply and input. Sorry it has taken me awhile to reply. Wow, I'd have thought that that bug would have caught me already but it might fit a situation/method I was using for awhile last week to shutdown (using the option key then clicking on the apple menu = no dialoge box) Lately I've not been doing that and Excel recent used files have been there fine.
My Excel ver is 11.4.1 and appears to be up to date as far as I can ck on the MS site.

I'll try my alt method of shutting down and see if issue recurs.

Thanks again.
