Mac Forum / Applications / Excel / May 2008Files can't be read
Version: 2004 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) Processor: intel I send weekly file to folks and save them as Excel 4.0 worksheets. Most people who get the files have PC's with older versions of excel. I recently installed the 11.4.1 update and now several people tell me they can't read the files. Any ideas of how to fix this. How are you sending them? What does "can't read the files" mean? Is there an error? What is the error? How are they trying to open the files - double click or file-Open? A progress bar momentarily flashes, but nothing else happens. I'm running OS X 10.5.1 on a new Mac Desktop (2 x 3 GHz Quad-Core Intel; 2 GB RAM). Any thoughts? Actually, I think Alan is a web crawler:-) I've been tempted to send them a message through their web site but I'm afraid I'll contract an incurable Asian plague worse than what we had to contend with in '69... And I'm sure it would serve no purpose whatsoever.
