Well, it is supposed to work. How (what version of Excel) was the file
created? How did it get to you? Is this error on the same file when it is
resaved in xls?

You'll need to provide a little more information. What does "can't open"
mean? Do you get an error? Which one? How are you trying to open it - double
click, drag onto Excel icon, File-Open.
Tell us in detail what you are doing and what Excel is doing/not doing and
we can help.

Hi! Thanks for responding. I created the file on a PC with Excel 2007 and saved as the standard .xlsx and emailed to my mac as an attachment. When I try to open the attachment it tells me the file is corrupt or has been protected (which is not the case.)
I have since found if I copy the .xlsx file to a flash drive it will open just fine on my mac with no changes. Why would the file open from a flash drive but not as an attachment when emailed?

Hi,
I think you should try some restore tools to fix this proble. And I
suggest Advanced Excel Repair to repair your Excel file. It is a
powerful tool to repair corrupt or damaged Excel files and helps me a
lot.
Detailed information about Advanced Excel Repair can be found at
http://www.datanumen.com/aer/
And you can also download a free demo version at http://www.datanumen.com/aer/aer.exe
Hope this will help.

Ok maybe you guys can help me.
The issue is:
a client recently "UPGRADED" to Office 2008 on a MAC.
-= He double clicks on a .xls document, and it opens Excel, but the document
does not display.
-= If he opens it from File --> Open .. the document does display.
So the file type is registered when double clicking on the file from the
desktop, but when it launches excel, nothing shows .. ( the file does not
open in excel, it just opens excel )
Im wondering what this issue could be.
- Possible things I could try first though, - Uninstall and reinstall ( since
it was upgraded )
please let me know what you think.
