My Office application cannot start because Office is already in use

I received this message and realized that yes, we had 4 computers
using 3 licenses.  I purchsed 3 more and installed but still I'm
receiving this message.

Where do I go from here?

Did you UN-Install from that system *first*? - Just draging to the Trash or
installing over the existing installation won't suffice. If the answer to
the question is "no"...

Run the Remove Office utility app (at least twice) to completely remove all
versions of Office from the system, then install using one of the new
product keys.
