we use excel to create drawing issue sheets for our drawing issues.

what i ant to know is whether its possible to create a formula to
automatically add the most up to date revision letter of a drawing
into a specific box, so that i can create a list of all the most
current/up to date drawing revisions.

the revision references are alphabetical, starting with a going
through to z.

we would normally list the drawing rev letter in a single row on the
spreadsheet, and i just want it to check and see which is the last
entry/or whether i would have to give each number a value and then
indicate the greatest value?? I have very basic knowledge of excel and
any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

I'm sure you know exactly what you want, and perhaps it's just me, but
I've reread this a half-dozen times, and I'm having problems envisioning
what you want.

If you only list the rev letter in a single *row*, does that imply that
you have a row:

J K L
1 a b c

and you want to find the last populated cell in that row?

I'm not sure what "give each number a value" means...
