I am trying to create a combination chart in Excel - lines and bars.
nothing complicated. however, "apply to selection" button in chart
menu is disabled. how do I activate it? without it, I get the same
chart type for all the data. would really appreciate if anyone can
point a solution or, maybe, another way to create a combination
chart.
thank you, Gauhar

In order to do what you are attempting you must first *select* one or more
data series in an existing chart. Otherwise the feature thinks you *do* want
to convert the entire chart.

Create your Bar or Line chart first. Then click a bar or line (shift+click
additional ones) then go to Chart> Chart Type, select the type & subtype you
want for the selected series.
