HEllo,
When I open up excel files I am noticing that the Sigma or the
standard toolbar does not appear even when I uncheck it and re check
it.  Now if I open a brand new document its fine.  Anyone know why
that is?

Hello,
have you tried reset your toolbar? Tools>customize>reset?
I strongly recommend you to backup before your personal workbook which
should sit here for office 01 and above:
Hard disk drive:Applications:Microsoft Office
version:Office:Startup:Excel:Personal Macro Workbook
If that does not help post back with more information about your
Office/OS version

I tried the reset toolbar function.  I am confused by what you mean
with back up personal workbook?  The client is on office 11.3.5 or 3.4
and 10.4.8 or 10.4.9.
Thanks
Ross

Hello,
personal workbook is hidden workbook which is loaded every time you
start excel. It's hidden so normally you cannot see it, but you can
*unhide* it. It's something like normal template for Word, some
scratch book where excel stores most of you information such as all
VBA macros (if you do not directed them to different file) the zoom at
which all newly created document will start... And it's always good
idea to backup these files - Normal template for Word and personal
workbook for excel as well as any other *.dot or *pot templates which
you might have for word or powerpoint.

Then my thoughts go to preferences files. Try to delete or move them:

Let us know how you are doing
