Hello:
I don't know Excel at all - but I need to import an Excel 2003 Address File
into Outlook 2003, and I'm having a problem:  When I try to import it, I get
the Error Message that the Excel file doesn't have any "named ranges" - and
that I should go back into Excel to create a Named Range.  How do I do this?
I am a complete novice with Excel.

I use Windows XP SP2 on a Compaq Presario V2000 laptop.  Thanks!

You've posted in a Macintosh Excel newsgroup. MacOffice doesn't include
Outlook, so I don't know whether anyone will be able to give a
definitive answer (you could try one of non-Mac XL groups or an Outlook
group).

However, creating a named range is easy. Select your range:

-click on the top left cell
   -shift-click on the bottom-right cell

then enter the name in the Name box at the left side of the Formula Bar.

Thank you JE, this is exactly with I need!  But I have another really dumb
question:  After I follow your steps, how do I SAVE the file?  Right now,
when I type the new name in the NAME box, it disappears when I SAVE the file.
How do I get the name to stick?  Thanks.

PMFJI,

You need to choose File-Save As to change the name. while you are at it,
save the file in Tab delimited text format and it will probably import
directly into outlook. No need for named ranges.
