I have a simple spread sheet with one table. in attempting to create
pivot table from this table I am running into the following problem
(I'm running Excel 2004 v 11.2.5 under OS 10.4.7 on a MacBook Pro).
I am able to create and manipulate the pivot table and save tghe file
(which is password protected). When I try to re-open the file I am able
to enter the password then receive an error "Unable to open file" When
I attempt to opent the file in Excel 2003 under Windows I get the same
errorinitialy then the program makes a 2nd attempt and opens the file
with a flas of an error about pivot table integrity then creates a
normal table of the pivot table values at the time of the save. This
appears to have started happening after upgrading to the Intel based
Mac - Anyone have any thoughts?

I get this all the time.  If you have multiple worksheets with pivot
tables, this is a common occurrence.

The best advice I can give you is NOT to save files to your desktop,
and save the file with only ONE pivottable worksheet, and save it
instead of ~/Desktop, save it in ~/Documents.

That's the best advice I have.

Cheers,
