In a 600 or so row spreadsheet, in one column, about 15 % of the cells
have content.  The numbers of contiguous empty cells in that column vary.
I need to automatically fill the empty cells with the contents of the
cell above them.
example:
Before:                   After:
A     B     C     D       A     B     C     D
     Z     Q     J       A     Z     Q     J
     Z     N     M       A     Z     N     M
     Z     N     M       A     Z     N     M
Z     X     X     Y       Z     X     X     Y
     Z     N     M       Z     Z     N     M
     Z     N     M       Z     Z     N     M
     Z     N     M       Z     Z     N     M
     Z     N     M       Z     Z     N     M
J     L     L     M       J     L     L     M
     R     S     T       J     R     S     T
Any suggestions?  Thanks, Bruce

Try the following...

1) Select the range of cells for your column, which includes blanks

2) Edit > Go To > Special > Blanks > Ok

3) Press =

4) Press the 'Up Arrow'

5) Confirm with CONTROL+ENTER

Hope this helps!
