Mac to PC tiff decompressor/pics won't appear on pc

I have been doing work on my MS office for mac/excel. When I pull the
spreadsheets up on the pc's at work, instead of pics I get a message
saying that quicktime and tiff decompressor are needed. tiff and gif
files seem to pull open on their own on the pc, but the pictures inside
excel won't display. The pictures come from different locations, but I
usually open them in preview--crop the area I need--insert the file
into the spreadsheet--and still have no success on the pc. I am
killing payroll playing with this. Please help!!! I could send the
pics to the pc, but then I would have to cut paste size contrast etc.
all over, and on a pc.

It depends on what application you're using to create those TIFFs /
GIFs. AppleWorks for example insists on using QuickTime compression for
it's file formats and is a pain. Check the preferences and save options
to see if you can turn QuickTime compression (or ALL compression) off
for the graphic files.

You can download the shareware GraphicConverter, open the image files
and then Save As back to TIFF / GIF again and as long as you check the
options it shouldn't use QuickTime.

The usual reason in this kind of behavior lies in the way you "insert" the
picture. Simple Copy & Paste usually gives the kind of result you describe.
In order to preserve cross-platform compatibility, one should always copy
the picture as an independent file on the desktop first. And then only drag
and drop it to the workbook or get it through "Insert" > "Picture" > "From
file..." Have you tried it that way?
