My main workbook is constantly going behind the toolbar. I resize --hit green button-- and it's ok for a few hours and then the problem repeats. Happens in word too. Kevs OS 10.4.2 Office 2004 Are your toolbars Really docked? They may look docked, but are they really? Try moving them up a bit. By any chance does this happen after a save or autosave? I read something about this being a Tiger bug, in a Mac magazine, but did not understand the fix. You might also look here, for a way to make sure that those toolbars are docked and can't become undocked: http://www.mcgimpsey.com/macoffice/excel/locktoolbars.html They do seemed docked pretty well and snap into place, and now, of course, I can't replicate the problem consistently. I didn't make it an add-in, though it would be easy enough. For a quick and dirty job: ftp://ftp.mcgimpsey.com/excel/lock_toolbars.xla It will work fine, but it's not particularly friendly - it docks and locks the Standard and Formula toolbars, but doesn't provide a method for unlocking when the add-in's unloaded, nor does it do any error checking. > What does it do? Toolbar prefs in XL are stored in that toolbar preference file. If you have custom toolbars, deleting that file will get rid of them. Trashing the file is not necessary, in any case. JE: You know, my toolbars really seemed docked fine to be honest. So why these workbooks are jumping behind it, maybe it's something else? Add-ins can be put anywhere. I put them in my MUD folder to keep them safe and out-of-the-way, but MS's default location is Microsoft Office 2004:Office:Add-ins: If you put it in your Microsoft Office 2004:Office:Startup:Excel: folder, it will load automatically when you start XL. > You know, my toolbars really seemed docked fine to be honest. A bug in XL04 allows you to manually position workbooks behind the toolbars - could that be what's happening? Repositioning the window, saving, then quitting XL should solve that. There have been other reports of windows positioning themselves behind toolbars, but docking the toolbars has solved it for most people, AFAIK. JE: No, no switching anything--resolution wise. I put the file in Excel , start up items, in apps folder. Got this error: "run time error 21447483640 (-7FFFFF8) Method "position" of object "commandBar failed" And the workbook that opens up with each launch now goes behind the tools bars -- which look locked to me. So this is a real beast here.
