My Eudora has been crashing since updating to 10.3.5. This happens
during mail check. I have lots of folders, email addresses, settings,
etc., so finally made a copy of my Eudora folder and just re-installed
a brand new Eudora 6.1 to see what would happen. It crashes just like
the old one, so it's not settings related. I want to go back to the
previous OSX; anybody know how to do that without re-inventing the
wheel?
My Eudora has been crashing since updating to OSX 10.3.5. This happens
during mail check. I have lots of folders, email addresses, settings,
etc., so finally made a separate copy of my Eudora folder and just
re-installed a brand new Eudora 6.1 to see what would happen. It
crashes just like the old one, so it's not settings related.
To me, that pretty much makes it a 10.3.5 conflict. I didn't have
anything in the new Eudora except a couple of my email addresses to
check. I think I want to go back to the previous OSX; anybody know how
to do that without re-inventing the wheel?

On the contrary. That means it most likely *is* settings related. After
all, the settings are stored in ~/Documents/Eudora Folder.
Quit Eudora. Remove your settings file from ~/Documents/Eudora Folder
(don't trash it yet). Lauch Eudora and enter your settings again. If the
problem has disappeared, that's it.
Of course if you have an older known to be good back-up of your settings
file then it would be easier to use that instead of entering your
settings again. But it sounds like you only made your back-up after the
problem started, which makes that back-up likely to be useless.
Unfortunately many people seem to misunderstand what a back-up is - it
is the thing you do when there are no problems.

In theory it could, but in practice it is extremely unlikely to be that
simple or else many others would have run into the same problem.

Only way to revert to a previous version of Mac OS X is to completely
reinstall the OS. Makes way more sens to me to try Eudora with a clean
settings file.

I have both Eudora 6.1.1 and Mac OS 10.3.5 and have never had a crash.
I hope you work things out.

Same here. I run Eudora 6.1.1 on a PB with OS X 10.3.5 in a multiuser
environment, and never a hitch.

Long ago, I had the same problems. Was caused by the "Eudora Settings"
file. I trashed it (Take care, it has a backup file, that may get
active. Trash this too.) and retyped everything. Eudora just works
since then (years ago).
Good luck

No, that means it like *is* a problem with your mail or settings, and *not*
a problem with the application.

I also had frequent crashes after installing 10.3.5. Trashing the
settings and starting over seems to have eliminated most crashes.
The only problem that I've had is when opening the settings window while
several mailboxes and messages are open: The big icons in the Tool Box
shut down. This occurs only on my iBook, 2USB, with 576MB but not on my
B/W G3 with 1GB of memory.
