Changing smtp port?

Good afternoon,
Have been having difficulty sending mail from my home isp when I am not at
home.  I use pobox.com and they offer their own smtp server to use.  I was
using eudora 5.2 and then upgraded to 6.1.  The instructions I got from
pobox.com:

which states:

"Quit Eudora and look in the Eudora Application Folder for the folder
"Extras". In this folder is a file "Esoteric Settings". Drag this file
into the "Eudora Stuff" folder, then launch Eudora. Go to Special:
Settings: Ports & Protocols: and change the ports here."

I don't have this folder and have no idea how to change to their alternate smtp
port.  Was wondering how I may go about changing to  587 without totally
screwing things up.

You didn't say what OS you're using, and it does make a difference.

If you're using OS X, go to the Finder, do a "Get Info" on the Eudora
application, then activate the Esoteric Settings plugin from there.

If you're using pre-OS X, find your Eudora Stuff folder (inside your
Eudora Folder, maybe in your Documents folder or in the System folder,
depending on when you first began using Eudora) and follow the
instructions from pobox.com.  You'll need to restart Eudora for the
esoteric settings to become available.
