Hello people,

i've just moved from a Win XP Box to a Mac with Os x.
I want to use Eudora as the mail application of choice but of course I
don't want to loose all of my old emails and contacts!

Since Eudora for some wacky reason doesn't have an export option, I
simply tried to move the in and out files from the pc to the mac.

It didn't work :) Even setting the right creator and type didn't help
much and Eudora complains that they aren't valid mailboxes. I guess it
has to be something related to the different way of handling line feeds
or end of lines between the two worlds.

So, have anyone ever had a similar problem and if so, how did you fix it?

Thanks for any tip.
Greets,
Ivan

Exactly right.

You need to change the line feeds from <LF><CR> (Windows) to <CR> (Mac).

Just to complete the set, although not relevant here, Unix line endings
are <LF>.

The simplest way is to load your meil boxes into a text editor like
BBEdit and 'Save As' a Mac file, or into TextEdit *in Text only mode*
and delete <LF>s. The Eudora mailboxes should then load into your Mac
version without trouble.

Oh yes, and of course only work on copies, just in case...

well it worked perfectly :) Honestly I didn't think about opening the
big mbox file in an editor and saving it in another format.
Sometimes the best solution is the easiest solution :))

Now I'm an happy Eudora user again. The only catch is that I've lost all
the connection to the attachments but I can live with it.
Thanks for the tip!
