Sounds like this is a common problem with both OE and Eudora.
Can anyone else recommend a work-around solution? Or, better yet, suggest
an alternate email program where I don't have to check the "from" field
every time I reply to an email?

I mostly have been using OE -- just learning Eudora. OE is a REAL PAIN and
I'm hoping that Eudora will be more user-friendly than OE.

In Eudora (at least Eudora 5.1 for Windows), if you want replies
to emails sent to "JoeBlow@blah.com" to be from that same address,
create the following filter:
---------------------------------------
• If Header> To:
• Contains> JoeBlow@blah.com
ACTIONs:
• Make Personality> JoeBlow@blah.com
• Skip Rest
---------------------------------------
When you hit Reply in an email sent to JoeBlow@blah.com,
the From: address will automatically be JoeBlow@blah.com

Thanks very much! And how simple that is, too!!! Would that also include
incoming emails with "Joe...." in the cc: or bcc: fields?

They are both good groups. Make not be accessible to you.

comp.mail.eudora and comp.mail.eudora.mswindows
are bogus groups, and since you aren't using a Mac, there is probably no
reason to include comp.mail.eudora.mac either.

Please try to control your OE--it is top posting and failing to trim the
excess material that you aren't addressing.

I think it will be, but of course it will take time to get used to any
new program.
