I am having a problem retrieving mail with Eudora, where the program quits when trying to retrieve mail. I was told to increase the memory, which currently is at about 14000. The program doesn't allow memory changes. How can I reset this? Thanks.

If the program is Locked, you'll need to unlock it from the Get Info
window.
Additionally, you can't change memory allocations when the program is
running. Quit it, and it should work.

Program isn't locked, and not running. What next? Thanks.

You're running OS X, aren't you? Changing memory allocations only
applies to Classic.

How then can I give a program the memory allotment it needs?

It sounds as though your problem may not be memory allocation but
something else.
Have you tried rebuilding your Settings (open them with the Opt key held
down) or even trashing the Settings file and reentering everything from
scratch. A coorupted Settings file is still a leading source of trouble
in Eudora.

You're right. The problem is Eudora 6.11 and Panther. It corrected when I downgraded to Eudora 5.1.
