I've been bugged by various versions of Eudora taking forever* to deal
with incoming html when selecting messages in the inbox (or other
mailboxes). I found out about turning off the automatic downloading
html graphics in the fonts and display section of the settings but
that didn't help; it still took forever to deal with large messages
when selecting them with the preview pane on. I thought, why not turn
off the preview pane? I don't need to preview the message for incoming
mail. I can figure out what is spam by the "subject" and "from"
fields. If a message is large and Eudora indicates I can open it with
my browser, then I do and it opens QUICKLY!!! (I forget if you have
tell Eudora to allow opening html with your browser. If so, do it.)
So, if anyone else is having the problem of Eudora getting real slow
when dealing with html, try turnng off your preview pane. It hopefully
will solve the problem.
Thanks,
John L
Using 6.0.2 (sponsored) for Mac, OS 9.2.2, cable modem but with
automatic downloading of html OFF, I give Eudora 16mb or so of memory.
* A minute and a half for one message today and I couldn't do anything
else with my computer while I am waiting. This probably causes crashes
for others (or me in some circumstances.)

I find that the images don't open at all, unless I forward the message -
then they open. Then, if I go back to the original message, the images
are still not there - but clicking on a message above or below ir and
then returning to the message in the pane opens all the images. Figure
that one out!
