Junk the Junk

OSX 10.2.8 and Eudora 6.0.2 paid.
I have prefs set to empty the junk folder of anything over 1 day old.
But it doesn't. Well very rarely anyway, it will occasionally do so when
I shut Eudora down, but as I rarely do that it's problem I would like to
resolve.
On the Windows version there is an 'Empty Junk Folder' button on the
toolbar, which would be useful in these circumstances.
In fact the Windows version has Junk Extras which we don't appear to
have.

Is there some way to put Eudora's 'Special->Empty Trash' onto the toolbar,
or into a macro using e.g KeyQuencer in 9 or Keyboard Maestro in 10, or an
Applescript in either?

Not that 'Special->Empty Trash' is hard to reach- I use it several time a
day.

I have a button on the toolbar for exactly that. Button created in the USUAL
way.

Which also means that it will have a function-key equivalent. (Mine is
F-12) Hardly hard to reach, if you'll excuse the pun? :-)

I use command-A, then delete.  Not as easy as one button?

Yes, but my real query is why doesn't Eudora do as I tell it and delete
the junk when it exceeds 1 day old.

I use command-A, then option-shift-D.  This "nukes" the junk, deleting
it completely without first going to the Trash.
