Is there any way to make Eudora empty a Trash folder on an IMAP server
when it quits like it does for the local/POP Trash?
It's annoying having to empty it manually all the time.

thanks

'Empty trash on quit' in miscellaneous settings not working?

Nope. If I put something in to the locallly stored (i.e on the
machine's harddisc inside the Eudora Folder) Trash mailbox then that
gets emptied, but the IMAP Trash  doesn't get touched. It's quite
irritating having to empty it manually.

Eeesh.

It's always worked for me.

Maybe try unchecking 'Use a trash mailbox on the IMAP server' (so that
it's then marking mails for deletion like pine), see if that works, and
then reenable 'Use a trash mailbox on the IMAP server'.

My recollection was that I had to specify which mailbox was the 'Trash'
(we're running exchange server, so for me it's called Deleted Items)
but that aside, it's worked fine.

Nope, still doesn't work. :(

Yep I know just what you mean, the first time you delete a message
after ticking the 'use a trash mailbox on IMAP server' box it asks you
to select a mailbox to use as your Trash.
I've just done a quick survey of other users here though and I've
found that for some people the IMAP Trash does get emptied when they
quit Eudora. But for some it doesn't, and I can't see what's different
in their settings. Some are using Eudora 5.something, some Eudora 6,
but there is no correlation between that and those it works for and
those it doesn't.

Very odd.
Will keep playing with it - thanks for the suggestions.

For what it's worth I'm using 5.2 on systems between 9.1 and 10.3.2
having been using IMAP since 4.something.

ONe guess is that there could be some interplay in the order in which
'empty on quit' and 'use IMAP trash folder' have been selected, but I'm
pretty certain that I would have had 'empty on quit' selected when I
switched to IMAP (which would correspond to your most recent attempts).

Otherwise I didn't see anything obvious on the Eudora web site, other
than ensure you're using a most recent 'esoteric settings' file, which
would be a bit involved to spot, i.e. move the esoteric settings file
from 'extra plugins' to 'eudora stuff' in your application
folder/package if not already done.
