I am about to upgrade from Jaguar to Panther.

I use Eudora 6 sponsored (The Beta version which still allows Junk
filtering in Beta--although I actually do not use that feature.)

Will there be any problems/issues when I upgrade the OS? I read on a
different NG that someone lost the ability to send attachments when they
went to Panther.

I installed Panther onto a clean disk, and installed the paid Eudora,
and have had absolutely no problems whatsoever.

Beware the "problems" you read about.  People will make random
connections between events and put it firmly in their minds that there's
a causation, when it's something else entirely they're missing.

Panther and Eudora 6 get along famously on my G4/400.

I recall there was an update of Eudora soon after Panther came out,
so make sure Eudora is up-to-date.

By the way, junk filtering is great, so try it out sometime.

I've got it runiing under Panther here (Eudora 6.0b26), and encountered
no problems, although typing is slightly laggy sometimes.

Nonetheless it is always wise to make a backup of your entire Eudora
folder first.

Yes.  I'm running v.5.2.1 and my attachment button is greyed out.
There's a workaround simply by doubleclicking the file you want to
attach.  FAQs say they are working on it.  I understand v.6 has if fixed.

Nice to know this. Drag and drop also works.

I just upgraded to 6.0.2.  The attach button is there, but they did away
with the insert button unless I'm missing it somewhere else.  Otherwise
it seems quite snappy and now I've got spamwatch.

0. Always make a backup of your Eudora folder.
I've rarely needed it, but if you do, you'll be _very_ happy you did...

1. Just make sure you upgrade to 6.02 or whatever is the latest.
2. The Attach button works in 6.0.2. The button was dimmed in the early 6
versions. Doubleclicking the file has worked all the time (as Irene said
above).
3. Insert? Drag-and-drop always works with Eudora :-) (for attachments too).
4. Spam filtering is GREAT. Pay up! :-)

Earlier discussion here in this newsgroup seemed to indicate there might
be some problems, and Qualcomm came out with 6.0.2 with bugfixes for
Panther, so you probably will need to upgrade frm the Beta version.
