I know, some say you should not ... but using foreign characters in IMAP
folders works perfectly even cross-application in Outlook/Entourage, Mail,
Mulberry and some others, but not in Eudora 6.
F.e. a folder named and correctly displayed: Entwürfe
in one of the former mentioned clients
shows in Eudora 6 as: Entw&APw-rfe
Anyone knows how to fix this in Eudora?
Well one way is to rename the folder from Eudora. Then the correct foreign
characters are displayed in Eudora, but all the other clients display wrong
characters. That is not a real fix.

I have no experience with IMAP or foreign character encoding, but some
messages posted here by Torge Anders may be helpful. He has found the
solution to for POP mail accounts and it may also work for IMAP. See
his message ID <1g4toge.1vlek0g11nl43kN@ID-142333.user.uni-berlin.de>
where he describes the solution for exactly this situation. (If the
message is no longer on your server, you should be able to find it on
Google groups, using the search by message ID. The subject was "Finally
found setting to display mail with "umlauts" correctly".)
