But I've noticed more spam recently passing through the gates. Something
(tm) happened after upgrading to Panther and/or to Eudora 6.0.1/2. I now
sometimes find blatantly obvious spam getting junk scores in the low 20's,
and regularly have to check the Junk mailbox for false positives.
FYI, the regular Junk pref pane has the threshold score set at 50, Mail
isn't junk if sender in Address book, Hold Junk in Junk mailbox (re
above), Junk mailbox never unread - and the rest aren't really relevant (I
think). In the Junk Extras pref pane, it says Only remove junk whose score
is at 0 (is this right? I belive it's the default), Trim old junk to
Trash, Transferring to junk scores 100, Delete Junk from server and Do not
believe date on junk mail. Seems kosherk, doesn't it?

Yes, sounds right to me. I don't know why you'd be getting more false
positives and negatives--other than the spammers just keep learning and
working their way around filters. I always end up with some junk in my
In box and occasionally have good mail go to the Junk folder, although
that doesn't happen often any more.
