IMAP server, Eudora 6

Hi All-

I am new to IMAP, and I have gotten a real mess going.  I used Apple
Mail.app for a week, and apparently it has set up a bunch of boxes for
its purposes on the server.

  Here is the desired outcome:

One IMAP server, associated with a domain name that I am in charge
of. All mail to that domain name gets to me, janitor@dn.com,
webmaster@dn.com, wwred3454@dn.com, etc...

There are a few OLD mail addresses that I know have been spammed out.
Hence Anything addressed to (for example) jd@dn.com, arts@dn.com,
bp@dn.com must go in to a JUNK folder.

There are a few hats I wear in life these days. In EUDORA these were
personalities.  They check mail at the same server address, and send
mail with the same SMTP server. But they have a different ReplyTo and a
different Signature associated with each.  I could easily switch
personalities as I was working with the Eudora popup in each mail msg.

 SO Far:

I set up a DOMINANT IMAP account.  There are
Inbox, Junk, Trash

Then I set up Three new personalities, all with the same IMAP server and
username, (and SMTP server for that matter).

 PROBLEM:
Eudora synchronized with the server, making the same big list of
mailboxes for each personality. Now when I get junk mail, it is
appearing in all 3 mailboxes !!

btw- the Junk command is not working, It says the UIDLCOMP msg is not
implemented on my server, and that the Junk mailbox cannot be found.
Weird, since the DOMINANT personalitiy clearly has a Junk box in it in
the menu...

What if I just blow away all the mailboxes on my server?  Can I do
that ?  Mail.app filters junk mail very well, but I can't use it because
of the personality problem.

  thanks for advice or pointers...

Do you use not only the same server but the same username/password to
check mail? If so, then do not check mail with all three personalities.
Check with one, but use filters to assign messages to the other two
personalities, in which case when you hit "reply" the proper return
address will be there.

ok, 4+ hours later of misc investigations.  I have decided upon using
DOMINANT personality, with mailboxes within, plus filters to sort msgs.

Drawers now looks like this:

Eudora Folder
 in
 out
 junk
 trash
 infoAt
 oldAcct1
<<Dominant>>
 inbox
 iee
 junk
 mostlyJunkBox
 pw
 spam
BBPersonality
 inbox
 iee
 junk
 mostlyJunkBox
 pw
 spam
PWPersonality

--
Notice that the list of IMAP 'objects' is repeated twice, but not a
third time in the last Personality, where I have not yet gotten a test
msg.  I imagine that as soon as I send a test msg to this acct, Eudora
will 'synch' up and make the mailboxes there too..

When I delete msgs, they show up with a circle-x in the Server
column, but do not delete, even after synching? (I am missing something
there...)

Filters do not seem to be behaving as expected. For example,
filtering on a <To:abc, transfer to MostlyJunkBox> does NOT move the
msg from the inbox of DOMINANT to the mailbox MostlyJunkBox for
DOMINANT, even after hiliting the msg and executing 'Filter Msgs' ?!?

Other Problems occuring almost constantly as auto-check proceeds:

Could not search Mailbox (IMAP connection closed)
but then things continue, I get more mail, etc...

Could not Open Mailbox (-43) The document was not found
But no clue as to which mailbox it is referring to ?!?

I am really, really screwed up, obviously. If someone wants to point
out how to structure the solution, I will do a complete, fresh install
and set it up. But I am not sure how IMAP personailites, mailboxes and
relay identites should be structures...  (see first post)
