I received a forwarded email without attachments that when opened
immediately crashed Eudora 6.2.4 using OS 10.5.1 on a mid 2007 2.4gb
Intel iMac. Beach ball spinning forever.  I forced quit and restarted
with no luck more than a few times.
I finally rebooted and started Eudora holding down the command+option
+control+shift keys and that cleared the problem.  I received the same
email again from another sender with the same results and solution.
I've been a Eudora user for about ten years and am wondering if any of
you experienced this and might have some insight why it happened.
Also posting as a tip.  I thought my Eudora was toast.  I perceive it
as not as stable under Leopard as it was with Tiger and PPC.

Then your settings file was corrupted. Might have been caused by the
forced quit though -- not necessarily (nor likely) by that message.

If you say this cleared the problem, then it doesn't sound like that
message was the actual problem. What happened to that message? Is it
listed in your mailbox? What happens when you open it?

Might your mailbox be corrupt?

Might your file system be corrupt?

I started having the same problem right after I installed Leopard in
November. It also happens when I want to fule  (save as) certain but
not all posts. Turning off the eudora sounds has helped other problems
but not this one and eudora is definately more unstable with Leopard
but I need it's filters and mailbixes too much to give it up. I ust
hope eventually somene will fix it.
