Where to report bugs in Eudora 8.0.0b2

Is there a place I can do this? I looked at the Bugzilla/Penelope page
and there are 288 bugs listed. I can't be doing with trawling through
that lot to distinguish between those describing feature requests, and
those for already reported problems.

This seems like alpha software to me, I could find a number of plain
things that crash it or just don' work.

What I want is to report actual bugs/problems in that specific version.

As far as I know, that is the place that you are supposed to report
them.  Bugzilla is a tracking system for bugs that allows the bugs to be
easily assigned to programmers, voted for, and commented on, as well as
have their status updated.  I recommend doing a quick browser find on
the main page, and if you don't see the bug, report it.  The worst that
can happen is that it is, despite your quick search, a duplicate, in
which case someone else will surely notice and close out your bug
(another benefit of the bugzilla system and an open source project).

Hmmmwell OK. I don't find that satisfactory - it discourages me from
reporting them. There should be categories of issues: feature requests,
bugs in the betav2, in the plugin, etc as appropriate. It would cut down
the search time. I have about 40 or so feature "bugs" that I have voted
for in the past.

You're right -- that would make things a lot easier and bring some order
to the chaos, which might in turn encourage more people to participate
in the project.  Perhaps make the suggestion to Matt Dudziak,
mdudziak@qualcomm.com ?

Ah, now that is a helpful suggestion - thanks. I'll do that when I can
find my roundtuit.

You CAN reduce the reasonable scope of looking for looking for
duplicates by giving the search reasonable criteria. For example, I
punched in criteria specifying Penelope and excluding Windows-specific,
closed, and trivial bugs as well as enhancement requests. I got 55 bugs
and an URL that could choke a horse but was reducible to this one that
seems to do the trick:

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/buglist.cgi?query_format=advanced&classifica
tion=Client+Software&product=Penelope&version=0.1&bug_status=UNCONFIRMED&
bug_status=NEW&bug_status=ASSIGNED&bug_status=REOPENED&bug_status=VERIFIE
D&bug_severity=blocker&bug_severity=critical&bug_severity=major&bug_sever
ity=normal&bug_severity=minor&op_sys=All&op_sys=Mac+OS+X&order=Last+Chang
ed

Of course, you could add in closed bugs to see if your bug matches
something that has recently been fixed:

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/buglist.cgi?query_format=advanced&classifica
tion=Client+Software&product=Penelope&version=0.1&bug_status=UNCONFIRMED&
bug_status=NEW&bug_status=ASSIGNED&bug_status=RESOLVED&bug_status=CLOSED&
bug_status=REOPENED&bug_status=VERIFIED&bug_severity=blocker&bug_severity
=critical&bug_severity=major&bug_severity=normal&bug_severity=minor&op_sy
s=All&op_sys=Mac+OS+X&order=Last+Changed

That gives you a total of 70.

So report *that* as a bug ;)

(Seriously. All I've ever reported to Bugzilla-based systems is bugs on
Bugzilla.)

This is one of the prices of open source software. There is no one
taking a slice of the umpteen-thousand $49 checks for taking bug reports
in a manner that is easy for the people writing those checks.

Go to https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/ and create an account for yourself,
then slash a trail through bugzilla's entangled options.  ;)
