Occasionally, when sending a message, I'd like to change the name -- or
more precisely, the form of my name that's shown along with my email
address in the "From:" line of the outgoing message -- *without* going
to all the trouble of setting up multiple personalities.
Any way to do this?
Thanks.

"Settings" > "Getting Started" ?
(before starting a new message)

Set up some stationery with whatever you want included. There is a
little menu at the top of your new message where you can choose the
stationery to use, if you have more than one.

Sure. It's just some setting in Eudora that by default doesn't allow
editing the From field. I don't know exactly which x-eudora-setting, but
the SuperSleek plug-in gives access to it: Eudora->Preferences->Sleek
From: "Allow editing of From field".
I seem to remember that one or more other plug-ins provide this too, but
I don't recall which.

You're right!
<x-eudora-setting:114>
When checked, Eudora will allow From: fields to be edited in composition windows.

I've tried to follow the above recipe.
Putting <x-eudora-setting:114> into an email msg and clicking it does
bring up the a box that begins just as quoted above, and just as
described in the X X-Eudora Settings FAQ -- but
-- No current or default value for this setting is shown
-- There's no specific statement I can find as to what the
allowed values for this setting are: "Checked/Unchecked"?
"Check/Uncheck"? "Allow/Unallowed"? ??????
-- Clicking the default button does not put a default value into
the current value field (either immediately, or after restarting
Eudora).
-- Trying to reset to values "Checked" and "Allow" have not been
successful (even after quitting and re-opening Eudora).
???????????????????????????
[This is on a MacBook running OS 10.4.10.]

When an x-setting says "When checked," it usually means to enter the
letter "y" (without the quotation marks) as the new value.

I just tried it, and it works just beautifully, after restarting Eudora.

Agreed! Thanks very much.

I tried "Y," "N," "1," "2," and "3" with no change in behavior.
(Although I admit I got tired of the game and didn't try quitting Eudora
for "3.")

Try lowercase "y" ;)

Pretty sure that's what I did, and it worked.
You do need to Save and Quit, all the way, then re-Open Eudora.
