The irony of Penelope importing

I've tried 3 ways to pull my 15 years of Eudora mail into Penelope, and
in order of result quality, they rank from best to worst as:

1. Eudora Mailbox Cleaner
(http://homepage.mac.com/aamann/Eudora_Mailbox_Cleaner.html):
Gets all the messages properly flagged and gets their content types
correct so that TBird/Penelope displays them reasonably. It logs its
activity and summarizes the results when done.

2. Thunderbird 2 without Penelope:
Imports everything, but the flags are wrong and outbound messages or
others without MIME headers get bogus ones that don't actually make
reasonable defaults invented out of thin air, causing grotesque
mis-display of messages in Thunderbird.

3. Thunderbird 2 with Penelope 0.1a21 (aka Eudora 8.0.0b1):
Mysteriously manages to import between zero and all of the messages in
my mailboxes (usually just one) but gets the flags right on every one of
the 1% of the messages imported. It seems blissfully unconcerned with
the fact that it has converted over a GB of mail into less than 60MB and
lost 99% of the messages, because it doesn't mention having any
problems.

So, anyone who really needs what TBird provides and really needs to
import Eudora mail, EMC seems to be the place to start.

I can second that. EMC did a very good job in converting my well over
ten years worth of Eudora Mail to Thunderbird.
