I have repeatedly tried to Unsubscribe from this forum/newsgroup, and
it doesn't work.

As far as I'm concerned, these messages now constitute unsolicited
commercial email -- Junk -- and I may just sue Google on account of
it's REALLY BAD group system.

If anyone would like to communicate with me directly, try dc1999 at
cox dot net.

FWIW, you are posting worldwide to the Usenet newsgroup
comp.mail.eudora.mac.

There is no 'unsubscribe' process in a Usenet newsgroup.

Usenet is independent of Google and came into being many years before
Google existed.

Here is a overview of Usenet.

I am not familiar enough with Google Groups to understand what your
problem is.

Cheers,

Darrell

That's simple enough: he's using Google Groups.

comp.mail.eudora.mac is a usenet newsgroup; the only person that
'subscribes' to it is you, via your News application.

If you are using Google to read news, the solution is simple; stop using
horrible Google Groups and use a proper news provider and news reader
instead.

This statement is devoid of meaning, since you don't "subscribe" to
newsgroups.

It would appear that you have asked Google Groups to email you
copies of posts made to this newsgroup, which isn't hosted
at Google, but is merely copied and re-distributed by Google,
so when you post, it doesn't go to any "mailing list manager,"
but rather circulates world-wide, way beyond Google's own walls,
and has no effect on the "subscriptions" associated with
your personal login account with Google.

To cancel your emails, you have to go to your "Manage subscriptions" page
at Google, which may be at http://groups.google.com/groups/mysubs

There you can choose "no email" to avoid having Google send you mail,
or choose "Unsubscribe" (in the rightmost column);
alternatively, while displaying any single group's postings,
you can click "Edit my subscription" for that individual group,
where you can choose "no email" or click "Unsubscribe."

If you need other help with Google Groups services,
the official Google-hosted support group is:
http://groups.google.com/group/Google-Groups-Guide

Best wishes.

I've done all those things, gone to the Google link suggested, and
this newsgroup is not even listed any longer as one of "My groups."
So, how do I tell Google to stop sending these messages?  Short of
sending a nastygram to someone like their General Counsel, I don't
know of anything further to do to stop the mail from coming.  If I am
mistaken in that regard, or just a Dummie who doesn't understand, I'd
be happy to hear any suggestions.

[FYI, Dave runs his own law firm :]

Have you taken the suggestion already made,
which is to go to the official Google-hosted support group
for Google Groups, run by real Google employees:

http://groups.google.com/group/Google-Groups-Guide

"A Google employee will be popping in from time to time
to post announcements, share tips, and answer questions.
Messages from Google employees will appear with a blue 'G' badge."

Google merely copies the original postings of writers contributing elsewhere,
perhaps emailing them to you, at your own original request, and there's
not much use asking group participants to do anything about it --
but you're a seasoned, experienced attorney, as well as
an experienced Google user, and you know that already.

If it's a matter merely of waiting for a "subscription change"
to take effect at some server, the way some print magazines say
"allow 2-3 weeks for processing," perhaps patience alone will suffice.

I hope that no worse affliction than this ever befalls you,
and that you feel to give everyone else the same break you ask for yourself,
and stop sending every world-wide reader of this Usenet newsgroup
message after message, demanding something
for which Google alone is responsible, or can do for you.

Good luck!

.

Ask Google.

This Usenet newsgroup is not owned or operated by Google. There is no
owner or operator, and no one here can make Google stop doing what you
asked them to do and now want them to stop.

Recently a lot of my spam has had snippets from Harry Potter included to
fool statistical and 'real language' filters. I am not complaining to J.
K. Rowling about that spam. Guess why.

Now where did I hide that website...

It should be "on account of *its* REALLY BAD group system".
