This is the usual sign of a corrupted Settings file.
First step: Find the file 'Eudora settings' in the 'Eudora' Folder.
Move it somewhere else and keep it safe, in case this isn't the trouble.
Start Eudora.
If it starts without crashing, you have found your problem.
If it still crashes; because you had a problem importing addresses from
the MacOS address book, you may have corrupted the Eudora address book.
To check that, move the 'Eudora Nicknames' file somewhere safe and try
again.
You mailboxes and mails should all be okay.

Thanks, but unfortunately Eudora continues to crash in both cases.
Moreover I think that some mailboxes have disappeared.
I have a copy of my hard disk on an external hard disk, but there again
I cannot find my Eudora address book, nor most mailboxes.
