I use Eudora Pro 4.2 on my Mac OS 8.6.
It seems like every 6 months I get a message saying something like
"Mailbox is damaged. Shall I rebuild a new table of contents?" Options
are OK or Cancel and I hit OK and lose hundreds of important emails.
Now, that error message or one sneakily like it shows up only rarely.
And briefly. So I don't even remember exactly what it said.
But basically the darn thing tricks me every time.
I can't make it happen on purpose.
But it does steal my mail.
Anyone know a recovery trick?
I would be oh so happy and grateful.
Thanks, JP

I would suggest:
Hit Cancel
Quit Eudora
Make backup of offending mailbox
Restart Eudora
If it's always the same mailbox that this happens with, I'd try
transferring all the messages in it to a new mailbox, then delete the
old.
