I've asked this before and didn't get any good suggestions, but it's
still occurring and I thought I'd try again.
I have a setting for where all my attachments go -- no problem. I also
have defined a filter for a development mailing list I'm on in which I
specified that any attachments should get moved to ~/.Trash instead.
For no apparent reason, it periodically loses that setting. I see a
message in the mailbox where those are sent with an attachment, but it's
not in my Trash. When I look at the filter, I find that it's been
changed to the location where Eudora puts all my other attachments.
I could sure use some insights into what I might look for to stop this
annoying problem from repeatedly occurring.
I'm using the latest Eudora 6.2.4 in sponsored mode (though this began
occurring in an earlier release), currently on Mac OS X 10.4.8 (it also
occurred in earlier releases).

I have found that the filters for moving attachments are very
unreliable. After struggling with them for years I have finally given
up, hoping that Penelope will do something.

What I've noticed is that if there exists a file of the same name in the
folder that you've specified as a destination, the attachment will not get
moved.
