If you press "Test settings", Eudora crashes.

Settings/Personalities: there is a button named "test settings" in
Eudora 624

So there is. Never noticed that.

Anyway, I tried it with all 19 of my personalities, and none generated a
crash.

Me either.

Mine did.  At least, my dominant personality did.  It wasn't so much fun
that I felt compelled to repeat it with the other personalities.

Same here.

Maybe it depends on what system and hardware you're using.  I'm on a G4
with OS 10.4.8.

Eudora 6.2.4 crashes on my Intel Mac Pro running 10.4.8. :(

The crash log (.../Library/Logs/CrashReporter/Eudora.crash.log) reports:

 'Exception: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (0x0001)'

and further on:

Same here :)

But given that it crashes for all of you: I'm in fact running 6.2.4b6. I
always thought that was the exact same as the final 6.2.4. Maybe it
isn't...

I found that beta on my disk reinstalled it...bingo.
Test settings works without crashing....

Here too, crash with *all* personalities, on a Powerbook G4, running
10.4.8...
has any one an idea on how to fix this ?

<grin>  I'm fixing it on my system by not ever clicking on that button
again.  I don't know what "test settings" is supposed to do for me so I
probably won't miss using it.

Exactly.  What does "Test Settings" mean?  Try to do a check and send?
If I want to test that, well -- I'll do a check and a send!  I have much
more faith in that in any case.

It brings up a dialog telling you whether the personality's pop and smtp
server could be reached and authenticated to. (I have no IMAP servers
available at the moment, but I assume it'll be the same.)

Patient: "Doctor, it hurts when I do this!"
Doctor:  "Don't do that!"
