Eudora 6.2.3. System 10.4.8.
Experts running my mail server now require that I use IMAP mail
protocol. Ever since I made the required changes to my Eudora settings,
I have one incoming mailbox named IN (as I always used to have) and
another one named INBOX. Sometimes incoming mail goes to In, and
sometimes it goes to Inbox.
At first, when I closed the Inbox, I could not find it; I had to wait
until another incoming message opened the Inbox. Then I found the
<<Dominant<< mailbox down at the end of my Mailboxes list and saw that
<<Dominant>> has the Inbox, as well as its own Junk, Trash, and
numerous other mailboxes. Once I found Inbox, I put its icon in the
tool bar so I can open it when I want to.
Ever since I changed settings, all of my junk mail goes into the Junk
mailbox of <<Dominant>> and no junk seems to go into the Junk mailbox
associated with the In box.
When I try to open messages in Inbox, I get a brief message "This
message will be fetched from the remote server."
Is this situation normal and proper?
Any way to avoid having two boxes for incoming mail?
Thanks.

Not sure if this helps but: I prefer POP and do not like IMAP. So if my
provider would prevent me from using POP to get my mail I would choose
another provider immediately.
If you _want_ to make the switch to IMAP (which is fine for a lot of
people) then maybe someone else can help. But I think it should be
_your_ choice what to use, not the providers.

My provider is my school, and I get a wide range of services at no
charge, so I guess I had better stick with them. It is just puzzling to
have two In boxes. I cannot figure out a pattern of why certain mail
goes to the In box and other mail to the Inbox. Thx for your comments.
