I have a wonderful list of recipients in  my "New message to," "Forward
to," and "Redirect to" pull-down menus under the "Message" tab. Some
have died. Some ha offended me and I no longer wish to contact them. But
I do not know how to eliminate them.

Window -> Address Book -> Eudora Nicknames

Select the ones you wish to remove.

Click the Remove button.

That does not do the trick. I have deleted some of these names from my
address book, but they still show up in the "Message" tab.

Remember to save the changes when you close the address book.

In the address book entry for the particular person, uncheck the box for
"Recipient List."  If you have deleted the name from the address book,
add it back in and uncheck the box.  Once the name is gone from the
recipient list, delete the name (again if necessary) from the address
book.

Quoting from an old clip in my clipping archive:

There are several ways to fix this problem:

* In Eudora Pro 4.x, hold down the Option key while selecting "Address
Book" from the "Window" menu.

* Add the name back to the Address Book and then delete that (if "Jon"
is on your Recipient list, make a Nickname called "Jon" and then delete
that)

* Startup Eudora 1.5.x/2.1.x and use the "Remove Recipient" menu option.

* Delete the MENU resource form the Eudora Settings file (for ResEdit
people)

* Delete your Eudora Settings file and re-enter everything.
