Sending gives problems...

Yesterday I was somewhere else with my TiBook. I sent email over an
ethernet cable via an ADSL-modem. The mail didn't leave fluently,
haven't a clue why. I did fiddle (indeed, out of lazy ignorance) with
the Allow authorisation tick.
Now back at home Eudora refuses to send my Dominant mail!? I send all my
mail through my provider. For my Dominant mail I use an Imap box
somewhere else. I haven't ticked Send on check. I do send the mail
seperately with Cmd-[minus] (learned the hard way). Now all of a sudden
when I want to send (through my provider) Eudora asks the password for
my Imap box.   ...? Eudora also doesn't fetch the mail from the Imap box
either. It does from the Pop box with my provider (another chunk of my
mail adresses).
So my conclusion is that Eudora got somewhere something mixed up. That
right? If so, what (sorry, it has escaped me again and I can't trace it)
can I throw out to have things going smoothly again?

Many Thanks   Stof

I'd try unticking the box for allow authorization.  It shouldn't matter,
but it won't hurt to try that.

Didn't make a difference, Kathy.
Crazy as it may seem the distinct impression is developing here that it
seems that only my mac.com e-address is involved...    And I only use it
as my return address.   ...I don't have a clue!

I had a similar problem recently. It happened after using AuthSMTP,
which is a paying service supposed to let one send mail with Eudora (or
any mailer) even if you do not know the smtp address of your provider
or if your provider does not handle one.
Well, everything was as if Eudora actually got mixed up with all the
relay business and after a while, I couldn't send any mail at all,
getting a systematic 554 error.
The only way I could find to come back to the original situation was to
replace my Eudora settings by a saved copy.

Kathy and Gérald, it took a while, indeed including doing nearly all the
settings again. But after a lot of fiddling I found that it must have
been the ticks in the Checking Mail box of some personalities. I can't
remember having removed them before but just un-ticking all of them,
those with the aliasses of course, and un-ticking the Allow
authorization's as well, solved my problem.

I think sometimes gremlins get in there. ;-)  I'm glad you got it
sorted, anyway.

Good, but what if you actually need to check mail on a regular basis
and if you need to use a relay personality and therefore allow
authorization?
