I just upgraded to (paid) Eudora Pro 6.2.3. spell check doesn't work. I
have checked settings and file locations all around. I called Eudora
support and went through their paces and we did not have a solution
from there end. They recommended that I contact Apple.. that there it
must be an applescript 9 or lack of applescript) problem... that
spellcheck was not connecting to the apple dictionary.

Can any of you tell me how solve this?
I am running OS 10.4.7 on a G4 powerbook.

Thank you for being there!

Eudora doesn't use the Apple dictionary or applescript for spellcheck.
You should have a panel "Spell Checking" in Special | Settings.  Check
the settings there; if they are set the way you want them, try toggling
them to make them work.  If that doesn't work, it may be that you need
to rebuild your Settings file, or it may be that the spelling dictionary
didn't get properly installed where it belongs.

You can rebuild the Settings by holding down all the modifier keys
(command-option-shift-control) while you select Settings from the
Special menu.  This will retain your server info, but most of your other
customizations will be lost.  Before rebuilding the Settings, put a copy
somewhere outside the Eudora Folder so you can easily get it back if it
turns out the problem is not solved by rebuilding the Settings.

You can make it a little easier to restore your customizations if you
have Eudora create a list of them for you before you rebuild the
Settings.  Do this by opening a new message composition window and then
choose "Insert system configuration" from the Help menu.

On my system (OS 10.4.7, G4 tower of some variety), the Eudora spelling
dictionary is in Applications/Eudora Applications
Folder/Eudora.app/MacOS/Eudora Stuff/Spelling Dictionaries.  (To see all
that, you have to control-click on the Eudora.app icon in the Finder,
and choose "show package contents.)
