Disabling small fonts

I seem to have a number of people sending me e-mail lately from Windows
that ends up as tiny font sizes in Eudora. They are using Outlook
Express. Presumably it defaults to style text, and the HTML shows it as
font size 2 - not sure what point size this equates to, but it seems
about 7 or 8.

I have Eudora's Styled Text setting set to ignore "Size", "Small sizes"
and "Font", but still it comes out tiny.

Is this a bug, or is there some subtlety here that I am not aware of?

Or, is there some way to set a minimum font size?

Or maybe to make the displayed text bigger as you can do in Safari and
Acrobat using Command/+ ?

Thanks

David

It's a well known Windows nasty.

My Eudora 6.1.1, running in OS10, has all the boxes in 'Styled text'->
'Pay attention to' checked, including 'size', *except* for 'Font' and
'Small sizes'. I have no problems with tiny fonts.

FWIW from http://tinyurl.com/g8tnx

Under Settings... -> Styled Text -> 'When receiving styled mail, pay
attention to' I only have 'Excerpts' checked.

Consequently the display font and size that I see are set by me in the
'Fonts and Display' settings. (American Typewriter, 18)

(Eudora 6.2.2, OSX 10.4.6)

With those settings, the text shouldn't be tiny.  I suspect a corrupted
Settings file.  You can rebuild the Settings by holding down all the
modifier keys (command-option-shift-control) while you select Settings
from the Special menu.  This will retain your server info, but most of
your other customizations will be lost.  Before rebuilding the Settings,
put a copy somewhere outside the Eudora Folder so you can easily get it
back if it turns out the problem is not solved by rebuilding the
Settings.

You can make it a little easier to restore your customizations if you
have Eudora create a list of them for you before you rebuild the
Settings.  Do this by opening a new message composition window and then
choose "Insert system configuration" from the Help menu.

Spot on. Interestingly, even with the size, small sizes and font boxes
checked, it displays as normal text now.

I wish there was some connection between the x-eudora-settings and the
preference panels :-(

Thanks for your help.

Urk!! I decided to put the old settings file back to check what they
were all set to. Now it is showing the messages in the normal font
instead of tiny. Must be some sort of caching going on.
