I understand why this is happening, but I don't know how best to deal
with it, either in Eudora on my Mac or on the Web site.

Any advice would be welcome.

All free men, wherever they may live, are citizens of Denmark.

It is happening since your PHP form (or something) sends/accepts
unicode and Eudora does not have Unicode built in. If that form has no
possible international visitors and/or international chars are not
mandatory, you may switch to plain english encoding.

I think the freeware unicode checker MAY help "reading" the forms.

ps: Use versiontracker "search" for unicode, you will see other utilities too.

Thanks. I downloaded Unicode Checker. It turns out that the characters
that concern me are standard characters (decimal range below 128) and
can be read by Eudora. The problem is that the Web form is sending HTML
information. Using (for instance) HTML to Unicode in the Services menu
on the text converts it into readable text.
