Eudora adding "pop" to e-mail address

I know I've seen this problem addressed somewhere, but I can't find it. And my
copy of the manual is corrupted, so I can't check that until I dig up my backup.

I'm using 5.1 under OS 9.2.2. I have an e-mail account that has both Web and POP
access. I can log into the account on the Web with no problem, but when I try to
access it with Eudora, I get an "invalid password" error message.

My address is of the form "me@domain.com," my username is "me" and the POP
server is "pop.domain.com." Eudora wants to check the account
"me@pop.domain.com," which I think is the reason I get the error message.

If I use the full address as my username, Eudora wants to check
"me@domain.com@pop.domain.com," which doesn't work either.

How do I fix this? TIA.

You're right about the reason for the error message; the password
doesn't match with the (nonexistant) username.  To fix it, try entering
your email address of me@domain.com, "me" as username, and
"pop.domain.com" as the mail server in the Getting Started pane of the
Settings--I think that will do the trick.

Shouldn't the "Getting Started" pane include the settings for the Dominant
personality? The account I'm referring to above is an alternate personality.

Settings > Personality Ports (this may require the Esoteric Settings
Plugin)
Uncheck the "Send hostname with POP USER command"

If you don't have the Esoteric Settings  plugin and don't see the
Personality Ports pane in Settings, try using
<x-eudora-setting:195>

It already is UNchecked.

Try toggling it on and back off; I think it's an OS thing--sometimes
toggling a box makes it work again.
