Why not:
A) Backup everything
B) Set it to leave mail on server for 7 days
Then if you don't like it, you can revert.... (except for perhaps sent
messages, unless you are using IMAP)

Thanks for the reply.
I'm assuming that means files from the latest Eudora are not compatible
with the older (6.0.2) Eudora.
So the trick is to find everything that needs saving. And no, Earthlink
does not provide IMAP. I would lose at least the date info from sent
mail (doing a manual convert). That might not be too serious. I
suppose I could BCC myself in order to keep the original date.
What would I need to save besides the Eudora Folder (this is OSX) in
order to revert to the earlier version if I don't like the new one? I
didn't see anything in /Library/Preferences or ~/Library/Preferences.
But the big question is whether the new Eudora is worth the effort.
Does it still do some sort of spin-lock on mail transfer that hogs the
CPU?

On the contrary; I have the impression that they *are* compatible.

I have never yet seen a version where they were *incompatible.* You just
find the old settings file and open that with the new version of Eudora,
and it works. At least, it always has for me.

Yup, that's it. Every version so far from 1.5 to 6.1.
