Hi Brian,
I'll bid I don't have DR1
Too bad you don't have the limited resource CD that was music that
would make this really valuable. :)

<NOSTALGIA>
Ah yes, good times. I still have the DR/3 CD case for old times sake
(although the CD itself is long since gone). I was on the Metrowerks
beta list back in the early of days, during the Symantec monopoly.
Back then, Metrowerks was outside Montreal, and they were best known
for the Pascal and Modula-2 compilers for the educational community,
on Mac and MiPs (or was it Sparc?).
I wonder if the *original* Metrowerks Pascal for the Mac
(pre-CodeWarrior), including the nice hardcover book, is worth
anything?

...a definite nostalgia alert.
CW Gold 8 is the most robust piece of software I've ever used,
I still run it regularly. So it doesn't know about altivec,
or cocoa, but to just whip out a quick program, it's much
snappier than that NEW CW 8. The IDE is 1.3 MB, the whole thing
can be trimmed down to under 10, and the old IDE runs rings around
the new tab-ridden unwieldy version. Just load CW Gold 8 up with
new headers and libraries, works just fine in classic mode.
CW Gold 11 is good too, but Mac OS 9 broke the Metronub.
When are they going to fix that?

This one had me laughing out loud. Everytime I hear someone complain
that the newest version is not as good as the one a year or two ago,
I'll think of your letter. (CW 8 even today particularly sticks out in
my mind as being blasted as not being nearly as good as previous
releases).

I don't think Apple is patching Mac OS 9 (this really broke with 8.1).
I think the Pro 3 MetroNub will work with CW 11 though.

Awwww man, I would have killed for this 2 years ago. I had to make an
important update to a program that had lain dormant for several years, and
it turned out that I hadn't properly archived the version of CW (3 or 5, I
forget) it was built with. So I had to spend quite a bit of work updating
the code base to build with the current versions of CW & PowerPlant, just to
add 2 stinking check boxes into a dialog!!!
